Medium NW Wind = Crosswind from Right in the Back Straight & from Left in the Home Straight. Helpful Tailwind around the Bend. Slower time and slow first half of race with CGreenwood able to control the race from the rail and run a competent race. NPIR on debut and 33/1 here and Supports/Drifts summary 2010-11 suggest little link to Market for the trainer. Profitable with Drifts and mostly losses with Supports. Club House talked up by trainer and did odd things wrong here but not enough to make all the difference. Too free early and not handling the bend fully. Not finishing the race off. Lars Krister a cheap Breeze Up buy but the Breeze Video shows he is a better physical type than the price suggested. The Breeze was disorganised and abit 'wild' which probably dictated the price level. Equipped here with Cheekpieces and Shadow Roll, etc, so clearly the trainer is working on straightening him out. But able to run a 3.5F+ competent race and hence attend the pace and run better than the SP and profile might have suggested. Miako expensive at the same Breeze as LK but just a smaller medium one of the sire and just an ok breeze. Didn't finish the breeze off well and perhaps a ready sprinter lacking scope. Another off target 'punt' on a Botti FTO. Smooth Handle looks ok for OR70+ but is his movement OK? Onto Polytrack STO after unsuited to Soft FTO. Given an odd ride in being forced forward from a wide draw and ending up running 3 wide around the bend in a 7 runner race with a straggler. How is Dascombe doing in 'fixing' the ones who are not running to their price tags so far this season? Is he still doing his own buying? Kingsville an unexciting 'medium' one but too wound up and colty in the prelims and stupid in the race. Borough Boy another relatively expensive 2yo for trainer Shaw for the same owner as Top Boy & Max The Machine who have both shown ability but the trainer is struggling to win with. BB interesting because he was offered at 2 Breeze-ups. Apparently attracted No Bid at Goffs Kempton sale in early April and the VT shows him not fit enough, free and FFH early and then not finishing the final 1F off. Sold for £35k at the Doncaster Breeze-Up sales in later April and same FFH and just an ordinary breeze and again fading. Got way ok here and showed same FFH. Lost ground on the bend and then an early fade. Intersting to see how the Breeze VTs compare to actaul performance, how much changes, etc. But BB seems a negaive on performance and with a trainer who seems only able to gets wins on AW over the winter. His only 'Turf Season' win with a 2yo being on November the 6th on LNGA polytrack. Seems like Top Boy, MTM & BB might have a long season. |
