GS from S by Meeting Start. Soft as it was two days before. Going Stick reading from 08:00am. Medium SE Wind = Three-Quarter Tailwind from the Left. Rail out on Bottom Bend adding 19 yards to the race distance. Arthurs Secret stood out as best type in a weak field but laid back. Positive for Pundit Paul Morrison who said as much on RUK and his only worry was him getting behind because he was laid back. AS slightly slow but able to sit midfield on rail behind a mixed pace. Strong extended effort from 2.5F out and going on at the line and ironing out OR60s and worse types with none of others putting a full race together. Clearly OR75+ and stay further. Note the owner EA Brook is the one Bill Turner said had lost his money on Hillbilly Boy in early season and amild punt on AS here. Even if the trainers are not betting ones then the odd owner may be. Pundit Morrison also good in noting how workied up and sweaty Throwing Roses had got. OT AP as well. Got an easy lead but spolied that by pulling much too hard for 3F+ downhill and fighting the jockey, fly jumping at times. Given that a solid effort at 2F out and clear 2nd until fading 1F out. Yorkshire Icon still not putting a full race together and has his own ideas too much. Too free TP and jockey pulling against him the whole way. YIcon perhaps remembering that when the stalls opened and dropped back, perhaps his mouth was hurting him and he did not want any more. Got back to the group but then hung badly on the botton bend and well back into the straight. Trademark solid plugging on to get to 2nd after making his own problems. Has more ability than he shows but not one to trust at a short price. Tiger Prince a weak effort in the straight and suggest his debut rating too high and that race over-rated. |
