SUMMARY
Stalls Far Side.

Going Good at start of day with Going Stick Reading from 07:00 on day. But, rain moving in from Early Morning and expected to continue well into the Afternoon with 4-6mm forecast in that period = Check how this affects the going. Stiff to Strong SE wind which is close to a Direct Headwind.

Charlie Hills on his weekly news page on his website = "Lucky Beggar will be our representative in the two year old race. Like Regal Dan he has always looked an early sort and should acquit himself well. "

Baileys Jubilee comfortably confirmed impression of her taking debut. Looks a willing mental natural and a terrifically balanced, natural mover. Broke best then accepted being asked to let DC hed her but then, as at KTNA, moved up alongside the leader by halfway just by her basic cruising speed. Headed DC without being asked and 3L clear before being asked for an effort. Again showed a real strong forward surge that gains 2L+ and doesn't stop and probably had another half or full gear if asked. Debut winners as early as she was for Johnston ought to be Group class at some point and she seems that. Trainer seems to have a similar male counterpart with Storm Moon although he did not show the same later race burst on softer going FTO.

Lucky Beggar running for Chalie Hills whose father Barry used to run really good 2yos in the Newmarket Craven Meeting races until around 2009-10 and then stopped as the Meeting changed to 2 days and a race was lost. LB has improved from his yearling days when his picture made him look like a big dog and probably the cause of his lesser sales price. Bulkier than DCiara here. Given a typically non-involving ride by Michael Hills after a bit of free-running early so able to pick up a soft second place with DC fading. Has Charlie started bringing good ones here or is this just another OR75-82 one. Perhaps keep the second template for the moment and this not strong form given how far he was beaten and how the pair he beat ran moderately. See also how the Hills filly goes in the maiden at this meeting.

Dreamy Ciara had shown much lesser form that BJubilee despite the two wins and comfortably dealt with here. But, ran disappointly and this seemed a mix of running too freely into a headwind and being pressed along for pace by an opponent who was too good for her on the day which she has not been in both wins. Stalling by 1F out which still seems a bit early. On another point where are all the Evans' juveniles? He had run 18+ by this point in 2011 and has run just 5 so far. Why is he so short of runners and stock?

Tahaf depending upon his dam to add some zip with his second season sire not getting precocious 2yos in 2011 (no winner before August and none under 7f). But the trainer can start good ones in these early NMKT races so not dismissable as a real OR80+ one. Ok size and much stronger in front so not an obvious sprinter. Green at the start and when asked to make an effort. Got unbalanced on the undulations inside the last 2F and eased by 1F out with the jockey looking down. Check him STO in the right set-up. [UPDATE = WTRB Report = Jockey said the Saddle Slipped]
