SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race.

Rail out and stalls centre and field raced centre track on rail out. Simple race shape with first two breaking adequately for two stalls nearest rail and joining up as the leading pair and racing together from start to finish with a duel from 2F out. Other four broke awkwardly and part sideways and bumping each other. 3 of those got going enough behind the average pace to form a 2R around 2-3L of the leading pair with Everleigh always off the back when not picking up. Race has a mised record and often gets useful ones in it who tend to make the first 2 places but not deep fields and often only the odd Open Maiden type behind. This an Average profile race with judegment needed over what quality the Stoute, Hannon & Channon reps actually are.

Jollification and ok ready medium one with strength. Got an easy lead but did well to battle on in the duel. Probably OR80+ but more likely a nursery type than going higher.

More interest in City Girlas the biggest in the field and out of a mare who developed with racing but has not shown that with her produce yet. Owner is the Cahirman or some such of the racecourse so circumstantials right as well. CG presumably a beter model from the dam and ran the same race as Jollification but has more scope. Ok to follow.

Contradict apparently supported and Market seems to know something about the Stoute 2yos. Slow start and green and given the standard educational into to place FTO. Would have run back in May but an NR with Sore Shins. Early runners for stable tend to be competitive 2yos with the odd useful one mixed in. On that Profile a surefire STO improver and might be better? But, just a smaller type and not a strong propect on looks and just an average effort int he last 2F. Unlikely to be value STO and compete ok in an average maiden but seems unlikely to be value and perhaps worth opposing. Is she really a smaller zippy one with an unusal engine in? Didn't show that here in a 'Visit' manner on debut. Let her go.

Red Four retained cheaply as a 1yo and look at the picture of her as a yealing on the stable's website and you would be surprised anyone bid anything. She looks awful. But appears to have groewn ok if not into a 5f sprinter type. Taller and narrower bodied and more rangy mover. Seems more likely to be a 6f+ type and OR70s.

Everleigh looked the smallest on view to add to the greenness and a poor run and not really showing anything. Below Open Maiden level on review here and not one to follow.

More interest in getting to the bottom of what quality Hayyona is. Hugely expensive given the sire but presumably a lot of that a 'Pedigree Buy' given she is out of an Aga Khan stout mare and half sister to a French Group 2 winner. Did the Group winner come along after the dam ahd gone to Multiplex? Look on the Channon website and the picture their shows an unusual physical type. Compact and a a bit on the short side but very deep and strongly built. A sprinter on shape despite the dam but can she move her weight and be athletic enough. Look at her latest gallop and she looks to be moving well in a slower work with previous winner Effie B and unraced Beautifuk Song. Seems to go much better than Effie B and leaves a positive impression. Beautiful Song looking a smaller and greener type and a somewhat negative view. Did not stand out for size in this group and never travelling smoothly here and niggled along from early on and then not picking up 2F out and eased. Must be better than that and appeals as one to improve notably STO and perhaps be value with a '6' next to her name.

George Baker Blog after the race = "Jollification and Red Four - a fine start to the day, Jollification showing plenty of guts to prevail by a head from the well backed favourite. We had taken this filly to Thirsk on debut, looking for some half decent ground, but the rains came and ruined her chance. Yesterday's ground was on the easy side of good, which still would not be ideal, so we have much hope that we will see more improvement if we ever get better ground. Glorious Goodwood might just be 'Glorious' ?? A first horse to run in the colours of Pittam. And our first 'Yearling Bonus'. Good fun..... Red Four made a most encouraging debut under William Buick in the same race. 5 furlongs was always going to be on the short side, but a trip to our local track for debut as opposed to a long lorry journey made this a decent option. Red Four travelled well, and was only just pipped for third by the Stoute newcomer. 6 furlongs next time, and I am sure further in time. A filly with a lovely relaxed temperament, this was a pleasing start"
