SUMMARY
Dry since Weds. Showers forecast for the day. Going Stick from 08:00am.

Strong SSW Wind = Quarter Headwind from the Right.

Stalls Far Side and wide Spread. Field raced wide spread from Centre track across to Far Rail. but, effectively two different groups formed which seemed to matter because they raced in different ways. Five fillies from 5 of the six highest stalls (Far Rail side) raced together led by Pearl Bell & Nargys This group 1L+ behind the Centre group leaders after 1F. But, all of the centre group leaders trying to be held up and fighting their jockeys while the Far Side leading pair were racing mostly settled. As the jockeys hauled the Centre Group leaders back in the next 2F to halfway the Far Side group were able to jog to a 2L lead over the Centre Group. Final positions show that the Far Side Group had gone a usable pace and filled 5 of the first 6 positions home. Look at the SPs and that would suggest that there was some combination of Pace & Track Strip bias. Also possible that the SPs did not reflect the real ability of some of those given 'Easy Intro' trainers like Cumani, Meehan & John Dunlop reps. Only El Manati, who raced widest on Centre track side made a real forward effort to get into the far side gorup at the finish. How much did the bout of 'bumper cars' between a number of the Centre Track fillies just inside 2F out affect their efforts. EManati racing on outside so avoided that shemozzle.

Interesting race and a Positive view of the fillies overall despite the slower pace, the odd split of groups and the hampering in centre tracks. No surprise to see more than half the field up to winning at Open Maiden level and some higher class prospects. Fillies in 2nd-4th all up to Open Maiden level and El Manati a notable strong effort after pulling and fighting the jockey for much of the first half of the race.

Invincible Cara a bit green and slow start and given and 'Educ Intro' in the last 2F. Appeals as OR85+ and capable of improving notably and being better than Open Maiden winner level.

Testmatta a bit wild on her debut and showing too much attitude. Given a 'Teach to Settle & Behave' ride here which meant she was hauled back too far off the pace for the last 2F sprint. Also then not hassled in the last 2F as if the jockey was under orders not to get her wound up or into a battle with her. Solid effort depite that and going on at the finish and a solid size. Another strong 3TO candidate for the trainer's develop-with-racing style.

No particular interest in Olympic Jule.

Sugar House did a lot of things wrong in the race so did not have a chance to show her strong finish on debut was real good promise. Along with many other fillies in the centre group she fought the jockey too hard and for too long before halfway. Then towards 2F out when the efforts would have started she seemed to get intimidated by El Manati pulling up outside of her. Still looking at that filly rather than getting on with her effort when drifting left and geting involved in a serious bumping match which cost her 3L and some momentum. Ok response after that. Worth another chance but pulling here might suggest she is one of those 'wired' Godophin 2yos who's form tails off quickly.

Summer Dream another worth another chance. Travelling very well to 2F out but that got involved in the barging match 1.5f out and lost 3L and momentum. WTRB about GGF being unsuitable also made. Should have ben able to make a much better effort on the way she travelled.

Perpetual Glory very green and just a medium one and probably OR70s and average Open Maiden prospect. Astrosapphire bigger and more usable than Profile suggested and another to pull too hard. Effort at 2F out less than expected and perhaps the pulling and perhaps her slower pedigree which is 12f+ 3yo . But, interesting to check her STO over 8f say because she should be value at a long price.

Classic bit of Pointless Punditry - RUK summariser asked which fillies he liked from looking at them in the Paddock. Said he liked Reyaadah most, thought Nargys was a big stong one but probably need time and a development project. Thought Invincible Cara was a good looker and said that most of the family were (The pedigree part of ICara's page on the website links to pages for all 4 siblings with pictures for 3 of them including two good lookers and one smaller trundly one from last year. Ability has followed size and bulk with the siblings. ICara into the Palavinci range?). Also said he like El Mirage and noted what an expensive purchase she was for a non-2yo trainer. If he had shut up at that point and just trusted the Paddock work he could have been very happy with his work. Then he has to spoil it with equivocation he has no research to back up. In summary he said he would always go with fillies with previous runs and form 'this time of the year' so was looking to Sugar House & Summer Dreams to win. What a shame, if he had a proper model and foundation for how basic ability, preparation and trainer methods interact he might not have ended up rubbing out the right answer he had managed to get to just by looking at the horses. Punditry for you.
