GF as it was 2 days prior. Watering as 6mm on Wed and 10mm on Fri. Going Stick = [UPDATE]. Stiff to Strong SW Wind = Half Tailwind from the Left. Trainer Varian now 5 wins from 7 debuts plus one strong 2nd. Fast conditions on day with the tailwind and 58.22s not a quick time. Race developed into a 2F sprint with a number FFH before halfway to the average pace. Between 2F out to 1F out the first four home spread in a Line-of-4 across the track from the rail out with JC on rail side and NE in centre. Normal Equilibrium a typical small medium and dark coloured on of sire who gets 2yos who outrun their size in quality terms. Cross nosebaned but mostly settled ok. Perhaps upgrade for racing centre track overall but not an obvious strong rail bias on day. (That seems to develop through the season as they use the watering boom ands the heavy wheels of that compress the strips on either rail, wet year so little watering so far). Took time to get on top but race shape partly the cause of that. Difficult to judge quality on this but did no show anything 'different'. Also check how all these strong Varian debuts are progressing STO. Are they better types winning FTO on abiliy and still going forward afterwards or has he got them highly tuned FTO ? Royal Aspiration promising on debut in a diffcult race to assess. Just an average effort in the sprint here and similar size to JE. Perhaps OR70s and barely an average Open Maiden prospect. Henry Candy getting going with his 2yos now and not had the odd earlier starter he often has, Good trainer with 2yos but lesser year in 2011 after three improved years from poor 2006-7 period caused by string health issues. Would tend to start with a batch of competitive 2yos although they might end up placers. Always worth watching for debut wins and can be profitable in better years and better types should win on later debuts. Just Charlie seems the straon and ready smaller-medium sprinter the trainer said he was in early season. Solid debut although perhpas a placer and nursery type quality? Jimmy Elder in the Lo4 to 1F out but never moving efficently and always a bit head up and rolling a bit. Movement looks forced and his fourth solid fade in 4 goes although the rating better = race over-rated or is he getting a bit more organised? OR64 before this which sounds about right if he could actually finish a 5f race off. Mystical Man a reasonbale size but always hanging left to some degree and then hanging way at 2F out so unable to make an effort and show what he could do. MITArena small and limited. |
