HV after 40mm of rain fell in a single storm 2 days before at 16:00pm and causing last two races to be abandoned, put parts of the course & Paddock under water and flooding some buildings. Morning inspection passed. 4mm of rain the previous day. Going Stick = [UPDATE] Stiff SW Wind = Quarter Headwind from the Left. The second ludicrous race to watch in two days from the track and makes you long for a bit of GF and basic pace being rewarded and races playing out in a sensible manner. Opt Out had not seem any of his previous 3 races out properly and had walked home in the last 0.5F on Soft ground at RIPN. Driven clear here into the last 1F and appearing to be giong ok. Slipstream Angel plugging on but unable to follow the effort and pace the leader was showing. Opt out then fades from 0.5F out and walking late on and comfortably overhauled in the end he was going so slowly. Add this race to New Pearl's defeat yesrterday at the course and a pair of races over 5-6f you might not see in a normal season let alone two in two days. Both races won by Fahey horses plugging on and you might wonder about fitness, as with trainer Dods, being a real factor in his FTO profitability. This race a stripped down example. Slipstream Angel looking a medium to smaller and compact one and perhaps below Open Maiden level and a suspect FTO win here. Given the OR she will get not easy to see how she can win again and does not appeal as he better type that the stable FTO winners often are. Opt Out seemed to make a solid effort inside the last 2f and a clear winner but for his last 0.5f implosion. But, did enough to think he would stay 5f NTO on a faster 5f test rather than the ridiculously slow time here. Max The Machine running away from the rail and getting unbalanced then fading. Better physical type than his run here. But, the trainer a real negative and he hasn't managed to get a win with Top Boy, poor debut from Borough Boy & MTM not progressing here. What would Hannon have achieved with those thre by now? Red Gift very green and check STO as difficult to judge him in this race set-up and conditions. |
