GS as it had been two days prior. 1.5mm of rain overnight and rain forecast for the day before this evening meeting = [UPDATE]. Going Stick = 13:00pm. Light to Medium NE Wind = Crosswind from left early in race, Headwind for long bend to the straight and Crosswind from Right in the Home Straight. Rail Out by 3yds from 6F start to the 1.5F cut-away. Race distance 10yds longer. ATG & Lady Ibrox, both by Ishiguru (Soft/F'Sand?) & LIbrx bigger, came into race on ORs which seem very high unless the baseline has been changed. ATG on OR95 which presumably is the 'literal' reading, or perhaps 'lenient' reading by BHA view of finishing close up behind an OR92 rater LTO in a slow race giving a lot of weight. Hoisted up the OR ladder in a meaningless way as a penalty for getting tied in with Chesham for? Lady Ibrox OR72 before her last run and that based on 'Northern Auction' form which the BHA handicapper is happy to have below OR75. Now has an OR88 which she got because she bustled up an OR90s horse LTO. Does the handicapper think Annunciation ran to his best LTO or is this just the usual simplistic, mechanical, view that he has to take? ATG & LIBrx now have 'Conditions' race form to back up the OR88-95 ratings to some extent int he BHA view. But that depends on their running in this race against each other which proves little and in a slow time. Even slower than the Auction race the following day run on officially softer ground and with the rail out even further so this race a shorter distance. Is that Auction race winner worth OR90s? Why are all these 'Northern Auction' runners jumping in OR? |
