Stalls Centre

Hannon website pre-race = "Hughesie rides Montiridge, who might have a bit of a plain head but has shown promise at home and has been kept back for these seven furlong races, while Colmar Kid, who also makes his debut, is a good-looking colt who goes well, too"

Roger Charlton website = "Pythagorean who is another nice .... out of a Saddler's [Sic] Wells mare who stayed a mile and a half from a good staying family. He has been working with Dundonnell and as always it will be interesting to see how the two year olds perform."

Slowish time but probably ok for the very testing conditions. Solid pace thanks to three runners with previous runs forming up in Centre track to drag the field along. Extended distances at the finish witht he first two pulling clear like the better quality pair although the margin back to 3rd+ exaggerated by thoise with previous ok form going too hard and fading and the only 'Closer' doing so having been held up well behind in last and fighting his jockey much too hard.

Quite impressive effort by Montiridge to travell comfortably in midfield. Cruised up to the lead then produced a better effort than One Word More. OWM presumably at least OR84 and perhaps a bit higher and dealt with a little comfortably by Montiridge. Hannon horse a bit bigger than OWM in each dimension and a bit rangier. Ought to be competitive win Group 3 at least. Caveat about how well he was handling testing ground here so how will he go on testing going. Run inthe Vintage at GDWD NTO? of at SDWN for the Solario? Could come back here for the Horris Hill if he proves not better than that level.

Pythagorean did a lot wrong and being hauled to the back and fighting his jockey for an extended period. Ok effort in the last 2f given that an ok for OR75+

Ayaar underperformed because of going too hard in the conditions but probably needs things to go his way (as with Luhaif for the same connections) to run to his OR80+ OR currently. Kalicamix fizzy in the prelims and sweaty AP and then took off too freely in the lead. Given that he produced an ok effort before fading. Some sort of OR70s ok. but needs to settle down.
