SUMMARY

HVS from SHV two days prior. 4mm of rain in previous 24hrs and showers forecast for the day. Going Stick reading = 12:15pm

Medium to Stiff Northerly Wind = Mostly Crosswind from the Right.

Bell website Fri 13th wrt Shrewd = He looks a progressive type and in this five runner field, he should be competitive.

Notably Slow Time and 3.8s slower than the previous day's maiden which was run on SHV. This winner carrying 4lbs less and with 7lbs apprentice. Only 1 x slower time since the start of the 2004 season which goes back to the fillies' Listed Radley Stakes in October 2004 won by an OR80s type. Previous 5 slowest times all relate to late October raceday with the Radley (4 times) & the Horris Hill (1).

Slow Pace and perhaps -2. First three through halfway all pulling hard and fighting their jockeys for much of the first half of the race. Only Shrewd raced mostly settled after being hauled back early by the A7 who won on him LTO.

Strictly Ballroom a poor value short price on what she achieved FTO and ran too freely and soon faded. Johnston stable not really convincing in 2012 with patches of winners but horses not looking in 'good form' overall and two early season impressive winners have not progressed at all. Since May 29th the stable has only had 3 wins in the June 20th-29th period, including SBallroom's soft FTO win.

No WTRB made but Hannon's jockeys or reps rarely do but Rising Legend never travelling and did not pick up in the last 2.5F despite being given a full ride. Not handling the ground or some other, perhaps part attitude, issue?
