SUMMARY
Good Going at start of week but 40mm of rain between Monday & Weds afternoon and rain still falling. Folkestone abandoned on Tuesday for Waterlogging. Going at SHV on Weds afternoon and a further 7mm overnight but the Heavy patches at the 5f & 2f points had apparently disappeared by race day. Going stick reading from 06:30am. Course at full width throughout.

Strong SSW wind which is a Crosswind from the left for the first 2F on top of the ridge then a Direct Headwind for the last 3F from the turn Downhill to the finish.

Field came Stands' Rail for the last 3F. That added to the Soft going and the Headwind meant the Slowest Time for any 2yo race at the distance since the start of 2004. However, none of the previous 29 races in that period had 'Soft' the Going Report and 'Good' the slowest Going before today.

Race another good example of a Lazy Favourite. Golac achieved poor form on debut on similarly slow ground and looked unwilling and hung badly under pressure doing it. The poor attitude had already been demonstrated in his Gallops homework which Channon had put online so it was public knowledge. The horse has been sent to Brighton which Channon uses as a hope-to-find-a-race-weak-enough-to-win with one that is a struggle like many other trainers. Yet, look at a few Man-on-the-Spot type race summaries around the web and it is all "Golac should come on for the run and be hard to beat...". On what possible grounds could that be a sensible statement. Hopeful drivel backed up by zero research. What can Channon have done in the last 6 days to make a difference? Anyone tried ringing him? How much do you have to sate your need for an adrenaline hit via betting to punt this thing from Evens to 8-11? Madness. Lady Phill would probably have beaten Golac as well if she were not being strangled by a stalls handler until just before the gates opened and fell out of the stalls still distracted by the handler.

All In Red a first 2yo win for trainer Coles in his 3rd season with a licence but just his fifth juvenile runner. Look back at his record with debuts and three poor unplaced ones but by poor horses. His one usable 2yo was 2nd on debut but in one of the last races of the season in November. AIR's run here then further evidence that he gets the debuts to a competent level. A little green at times and not always seeming to stretch out fully early on and check whether she goes better of a firmer surface. A good size for a filly by a sire who turns out an above average number of usable cheap ones. Going on at the finish and can rate higher.

Probably enough said about Golac but he has more ability than he has shown but in both runs he has clearly demonstrated he will not, or cannot for some physical reason, put in a strong finish.

Lady Phill a full sister to a good 5f 2yo (OR90+ and sold to HK) and a duff one. Has the size to be the intermediate one between those two if a bit weaker in front which made going downhill look a bit tricky on her. But, staying on at the finish and can rate OR70+. Bill Turner has trained at least one home-bred 2yo winner for M. Teversham every season back to 2002, at least. The 'Lords' & 'Ladys' have included many of his better 2yos. LP should be able to keep that sequence going even if he hasn't got another one still to run for them

Reberty Lee comes from a suspect race and his response in the last 2F made Golac look like a Tiger. On debut the lack of any response 2F out and the hanging left might have been put down to greenness on testing ground. But, similar response here and unless the ground is stopping him another with some underlying issues. A type to see whether the stable has more confidence with when he turns up on better going or whether they know he is 'broken'.
