Meehan website wrt Whippers Boy = "very green, starting slowly and in rear on his Newmarket debut. He was denied a run when Warwick was abandoned last week, but has improved since his debut and has a good chance in this company."

Typical EPSM race in some ways with the Run Style of running prominently close to the rail a real advantage and usually very hard to make ground against runners getting away down the rail in the home straight. Halfway Positions to final mostly show this with not much change other than the limited (on previous evidence) Sekumkum fading back. Zanetto hanging on despite having pulled fiercely and fought his jockey for much of the race (as he has in two previous runs and notably bad puller). Zanetto continuing his trainer's record of his juveniles nearly always making the first 2 places.

Which would make you wonder whether Whipper's Boy showed something 'different' here to make him competitive in much better class. Still running green through much of race and set the task of getting 5-6L back in the straight. Despite racing head up and a bit clueless well away from the rail he led before 1F out and then went away quite strongly until a late stall. Will they try him in 7f Group race next? Vintage or Solario?
