SUMMARY
FGF from GGF 2 days prior. Going Stick Reading from 07:30am.

Light to Medium SSE Wind = Quarter Tailwind from left in the home straight.

Hannon website = "The Taj looking to have a big shout in the novice race. Richard Hannon said: 'Pat Dobbs breezed The Taj on Tuesday and he was absolutely delighted with him. The horse hit the gates running in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and ran much too free, so Tadhg O'Shea's priority will be to drop him in and get him settled. He could well go on to Goodwood if he comes through this test, but the plan is to get his confidence back here before we decide on next week."

Odd Market and why would FEquilbrium start out as a short favourite against horses with much higher ORs (so no secret) in LB & Liber? Both were obvious value at the prices they started at and LB never corrected by the Market. FEquilbrium just a medium one who had struggled to overcome lesser ones FTO and not looking like he had much scope. Market too tuned into the Varian 'Halo Effect'? Worth noting that FEq being in a Bath Novice probably an indication that Varian did not rate him. Morawij went straight from his debut win to a Group race. Rocky Ground to a Conditions race, Chelwood Gate to a Novice and so on. FE had run into a ridiculously tought Bath novice with Liber having put up better performances than the result reads in a number of tought races. Each time he had produced an unusually strong kick to look like winning or challenging then fading. Held up here and in a weaker race he looked like he wasn't handling the fast ground around halfway and in trouble. THe strong effort eventuall came inside the last 2F to get to a comfortable win but still hanging inside the last 1F as if a bit too firm for him.

LBeggar improving and did well to get back to 2nd in a solid race from 6L back at halfway. Held up early to try to settle he then seemed to stop going forward after 2F and had to be driven to get going. Like the winner a strong effort in Centre track (as the previous race winner did) to get to 2nd late on and still going forward.

The Taj better than the result although did not look much of a battler when he found himself blocked in behind others near the rail. Obvious excuses but would have liked to have seen a bit more of a 'wanting it' effort and putting himself into gaps to 'make them'.
