SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race.

GGF from GFF two days prior. 4mm of rain in the 24hrs to early morning. Going Stick reading from 06:30am.

Stiff Southerly Wind = Tailwind.

Fast conditions on day and probably a Stands' Rail bias. But, with Bold Prediction racing Lane 3-4 throughout this field never grouped up on the rail. Shahdaroba within a neck of BP through most of race and had just got past him near the line. But Shahdaroba relegated for hampering Herbalist which looked the wrong decision ont he side on views. Herbalist drawn on rail but never quite racing on it as he was on the inner edge of the BP group. Shahdaroba briefly hung left to the rail around 1F out and closed the gap but Herbalist seemed to be taking time to pick up and hanging right hmself anyway. Herbalist around 1L back and still taking time to pick up when he eventually hung onto the rail and the Magic Carpet effect took him forward. Seemed to have enough room to get through and never quite got there on the side on view. Bumped late on?

UPDATE August 16th Report of the Appeal By trainer Millman to the BHA Disciplinary Panel = "The Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority on 16 August 2012 considered an appeal lodged by Rod Millman, the trainer of SHAHDAROBA (IRE), placed first in the Navigation At Newark/British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes, against the decision of the Stewards at Leicester on 1 August 2012 to find that SHAHDAROBA (IRE) had accidentally interfered with HERBALIST, placed second, but that the interference had improved SHAHDAROBA (IRE)’s placing, and to reverse the placings. The Panel heard evidence from Rod Millman, James Millman, the rider of SHAHDAROBA (IRE) and Dane O’Neill, the rider of HERBALIST. It also viewed video recordings of the race and the photo-finish print. The Panel found that just after the one furlong marker SHAHDAROBA (IRE) drifted left handed causing accidental interference to HERBALIST who was hanging right handed at the time. The Panel agreed that this accidental interference did not improve SHAHDAROBA (IRE)’s placing and therefore upheld the appeal placing SHAHDAROBA (IRE) first and HERBALIST second. "
