GFG from GF two days prior. 5.5mm of rainfall Wed-Thu. 5mm of rain in 24hrs up to 06:30am on day. 4mm of watering on Thu & some watering on Fri. Going Stick reading from 06:45am. Medium SSW Wind = Direct Tailwind. Average Pace early but upped before halfway with Hasanan running freely in blinkers and jockey unable to hold her. Only Dundonnell able to follow comfortably as she pressed on with Aint Got etc & Arctic Admiral niggled along as a 3R pair. Charlton Website 5th Aug = "Dundonnell was very impressive when winning his race at Lingfield by a wide margin of 12 lengths breaking the juvunile course record held since 1978. He continued a long way into the back straight before James was able to pull him up. It was a very encouraging performance and Timeform have raised his rating by 18lbs to 102 which puts him up with some of the best two year olds seen out so far this season. He might run in a 7f novice back at Lingfield on Saturday 18th August before he is raised into pattern races or go to York to run in the Acomb Stakes on 22nd August. " Fast Conditions on the day with the Tailwind and the 'Juvenile Course Record' bit a trifle misleading and care needed to rate the Dundonnell run. The actual final time not that impressive and the mid OR70s rater Four Better ran 89.43s on debut on GGF in 2011 carrying 7lbs less. The preceding Apprentice handicap won in 89.49s by an OR65 rated 3yo carrying 10-0 before an A4 factored in. The impressive thing that looked 'Different' was the strength of the effort Dundonnell made in the last 1F+ and how comfortably he did it. Looking a professional trhoughout and a strong, straight mover to add to the positives. |
