£10k Bonus Race. See note from previous day about track maintenance and SSW Going. Medium SSW Wind = Half Headwind from Right in Back Straight, Half Tailwind from Left in Home Straight, Changes over around the bend. Odd race in Shape and presumably slow surface played a part. Did not look a strong pace but field spread over large distances by halfway. Partly because of green ones behind but also because a number of jockeys seemed to be riding for tomorrow or not wanting to get too close to the ok ones and upping the OR. Most obviously on Big Thunder. Brave Command travelled best and a good effort to go clear inside the last 2F and 5L clear 1F out. Stalled and faded and caught late on but required a solid and sustained finish from Filfil to lead close to the line. Pair clear and nothing else really closing in the manner Filfil did. Note that Filfil racing widest because of running green and hanging left early in the straight. |
