GFG from GSG two days prior. Going Stick Reading from 06:45am. Rail out from 6F 4.5F out but "without altering race distances". Light Southerly Wind = Headwind in the Home Straight. Broken Race to some extent with Dust Whirl a slow break but then driven early by jockey to progress to the lead. This proved a poor move as DW, in FT blinkers, took off with the jockey and had the field spread over 15L by halfway. Those who got well back then out of race, say Bornean as an example although his later race progress unbalanced and laboured. Some, e.g. Boleyn, just finding following the strong pace tough & especially downhill. Hajam an early debut for new trainer Tate and patterns seems to be emerging with his runners int his first year. First 6 debuts have now 4 x winners and 2 x solid placers. All those 6 finised 4-5th FTO and a mix of prominent runners. The first two batches of a pair of runners have needed time to develop and produce winners. Hajam promising on debut and this sort of win back on firmer going after STO seemed likely and the SP wrong. Has a fast ground action. |
