GF going produced by watering and GFF in previous weeks with warm & dry weather. 5mm applied to the straight on each of the preceding 5 days. Light Breeze probably as a half tailwind from the left but direction due to circle more towards NE & E during the afternoon. Stalls centre and field raced centre. Slower than any 5f race at the course in 2010-11 by some margin. Poor horses or has the watering been a bit too thorough?. 0.47s slower than the Auction race with Severn Bore carrying 8-5lbs if you give full credit for the 7lbs apprentice compared to 8-4 for the filly in the auction race. Severn Bore putting up a better perfomance overall than the Turner runner - Caught Napping - who faded to 5th in the preceding race. Pre-Race Questions Doc. Wirth recording the idea that racing Centre track and wider was some sort of advantage overall compared to being more stands' side (see note for preceding race). Similar pattern here to that race with MJ & KB being closer to stands' side and fading worst and the deep closer in SLArgent was 6L back at halfway and ran the Centre strip throughout and would have got up to win with another 50-100yds with the pacemakers folding back again. |
