£10k Bonus Race. Very convoluted Going reports through am from the track. Eventually started the meeting on SGS then changed it to GSS after the preceding race. S from GF two days prior and S the previous day after 16mm of rain on Wed & 1.5mm in heavy shower on race morning.. Going Stick reading from Noon. Stiff SSW Wind = Crosswind from Left. Trainer Baker's blog pre-race = "One runner today at our local track, Salisbury. Luckyblackstar, a Lawman 2-year-old, making his racecourse debut. Owned by Andy Luckhurst of BBT, our yard sponsors. And Ian Fitzpatrick. Sadly neither in attendance today as they are cleverly in warmer climes... We always like our horses on debut to run in their own bubble. By which I mean that we really do not care where they finish. If they are good enough to win, fantastic. But if not we are looking for them to have a progressive experience. A couple of taps with the stick at most. Pushed out to the line. And hopefully an experience that does not worry the horse..... Salisbury is no more than 10 minutes down the road. A fair track. Our horses spending only a short time on the lorry. And home to their own stable and a manger filled with feed..... Luckyblackstar is a good looking horse who is ready to go to the races. But already (and I apologise for the cliche) he looks like next year's horse. Big, slightly unfurnished, he will progress in every way in the months ahead. But a lovely long term prospect, who will learn plenty later today. As will we...." Trainer Charlton's website pre-race wrt Sakhee's Rose = "There are several others in the race that have good form and she is likely to benefit from the experience." Field raced Stands Side from early on and kept closer to Rail and went further around the outside of the early RH dog-leg. Swift Cedar the notable on to race on the outside of the group in towards Centre Track for most of race. MLink & TGBoy right against rail from well before Halfway. |
