GF as it had been two days prior. 5mm of watering on Wed. Going Stick reading from 09:00am. Medium to Stiff SSW Wind = almost Quarter Headwind from Left. Godolphin Jockeys = Dettori (Tarikhi for Suroor), Fallon (COM), Murgia A5 (Altruism) & Ennistown (Doyle, First ride for them?) Classic bit of 'Second String Effect', perhaps 3rd or 4th string although some support for Altruism. Second win for A5 on Second String recently and you wonder whether he gets some of the 'difficult' ones to ride. Altruism pulling here and never settled until taking a 'breather' -3.5F to -1.5F and then able to go away again as jockeys behind had belated realised they couldn't give Altruism a 4-5L headstart and expect him to come back to them. He wasn't stopping and they needed to go and fetch him. Also the A5 might get more of the 'tricky' ones to ride they are still ok physical types and Altruism a bigger one in context of field if a bit raw and pulling. |
