GF as it had been two days prior. Going Stick reading from 06:20am. 10mm of watering on Thu. Medium Southerly Wind = Half Headwind from Right. Meehan website wrt Lazarus Bell = "made a smart debut when third at Newbury. That form puts him at the head of what is an unusually uncompetitive affair for the track." Unsatisfactory race with a notably slow pace. Final time 3.38s slower than the first Division of the Fillies' maiden. Nothing wanted to lead and jockey on Shiatsu decided to let him lead but the horse did not settle even then and wanted to go faster than the slow pace set. Exotic Guest also pulling much too hard and fighing his jockey. Race developed into less than a 2F sprint and Lazarus Bell raced professionally and faced with less than taxing job of beating Shiatsu and that one faded anayway. Other two giving LBell a headstart so would have to have been better class to 'fetch' him back. |
