SUMMARY
 GGS from GFG two days prior. 3mm of rain overnight. Going Stick reading from 07:30 as 7.0 Stands, 7.1 Centre & 7.2 Far Side.

Stalls Centre.

Medium NNW Wind = Close to Direct Headwind, slightly from Left.

Pace not look overly strong but 5 of field not finishing race off and fading at some point in the last 1.5f. Fire Eyes making best effort an 2F out to go 2L clear. But faded in the last 0.5f. Which meant the race set up for a Spencer ridden Closer despite the fact he made things more difficult than they should have been. Another example of the pile where the odd time his antics go right will be held as his 'brilliance' while the bigger pile of times it failed gets ignored. CChatter took the field to race on the Far Rail with Hoyam held up behind him. Which meant as the field rolled onto the rail as the horses tired Hoyam had to be switched out to centre track. 3L+ adrift of FEyes into the last 1F which would have been impossible to get back in fast conditions but field stopping notably so the Race Shape saved Spencer.

Sectional Times per Furlong for Whole Field tell some of that Story. Note how the times are slower than the faster 6F races earlier in the week. Note particularly how slow the Last 1F is and that was with Hoyam taking it up from Fire Eyes inside the last 0.5f. If the winner had been FEyes plodding home the last 1F time would have been 14s+.
