SUMMARY
GGS as it had been two days prior. 1mm of rain overall. Going Stick reading from 08:00am.

Medium to Stiff WSW Wind = Close to Direct Headwind.

Godolphin Jockeys = H Bentley (recently lost A3) on Naalatt, P Makin on Willowing.

Fahey in his SLife blog = "I'm worried about the ground for Laudate Dominum ..... at Beverley. I'm sure she wants a quicker surface than she's likely to get but it's been hard to find races for her and after this she'll be qualified for handicaps which opens the floodgates in terms of opportunities."

Odd Race Shape which seemed to affect the final result and make it a race set up for Closers. Traditional jog down the hill and all very orderly with Willowing being allowed to set a usable pace in the lead and no reason to expect anything other than a jog round to the 2F mark and make the final efforts there. But Spencer unable to hold Zero Game going into the bend and she pulled to the lead at halfway, increased the pace and got unbalanced. That set Willowing off who got unbalanced as the jockey held her.

The increase in pace split the race in two with the first 4 at halfway 5L+ clear of the final trio. The problems then compounded by the first four starting the final efforts by 3F out with a duelling Lo3 of Willowing, ZG & SDream who had been hustled up wide out of the bend. Shafaani also making the wide move and working hard just behind them. Which meant that 4's efforts were petering out towards 1F out and the race set up for the first two home to trundle up the far rail past the faders. Willowing actually running pretty well to see off the 3 who she had duelled with by 3F out and still have a little left in the last 1f.
