Stiff WSW Wind = Three-Quarter Headwind from Right Back Straight, Three-Quarter Tailwind from left Home Straight. Very Similar Race Shape to the previous maiden on the day at the course. Majority of the field not wanting to get involved and never, or barely, being put into the race to save their handicap marks for the future. Favourite initially going to the lead but then headed in the back straight by a Free Running, Norton ridden, runner trained by Kevin Ryan. Favourite then able to jog past the Ryan runner in the straight with most of the other jockeys trying to finish as far back as they can rather than as far forward as the rules state. Hanagan particularly inactive on Enzaal & jockey on CPalace at least trying a bit. Layla's Oasis a solid size if not neatly made and still green and can improve. Possible those behind the first two just moderate or worse ability anyway. Smart Spender a smaller one and hauled back at the start and got into midfield by running to freely and the jockey being unable to hold him on the bend. Rather than worthwhile gaining of places. Check whether CMccaw is actaully a slow galloper despite the pedigree and see how he goes up in trip. |
