£10k Bonus Race. GF with 2mm of rain overnight following watering as 8mm on Sat, 6mm on Sun & 3mm on Mon. Going Stick reading from 09:15am as 8.1 Stands Side and 7.7 Far Side. Will this unusually large field Split into two Groups to test that Going Stick info? Stiff WNW Wind = Three-Quarter Tailwind from Left. Hills' website pre-race = "Country Western's run at Goodwood baffled us a bit as he had run so well first time out. He has been given a bit of a break and hopefully will be a stronger horse this time. "> Field stayed together Stands Side but a classic FOLK Race Shape with prominent racing closest to rail a big advantage. Banovallum loose in the lead on the rail from early on and never really challenged. Other horses in first 4 from high draws and racing closest to rail overall. Godophin horses racing wide at this Course again as they seem to have done all season and just never learn. First three home were lined up on rail from early on and finshers in 5th-7th widest overall and presumably can do better on Profile. MWarrior running a bit free and widest of the prominent runners and faded most. Just enough pace in race, added to some greenness, wide running and jockey inactivity to collect the tail of low Profile horses at the back by the line. Most moderate but perhaps some being ridden to proect their future careers. Exclusion & Kraken both taken very wide after halfway and faded notably after breif efforts, for example. |
