Heavy from SGS two days prior after previous day's meeting abandoned for standing water on the track. 25mm of rain in past 24 hours to early am. This meeting survived a 06:30am Inspection. Going Stick reading from 06:15am. Light to Medium Northerly Wind = Crosswind from Right. Fahey's SLife blog = "Bahamamay did everything wrong but still ran a blinder first-time-out at Beverley. He half ran away with Tony Hamilton but still stuck to his guns. The Maiden Stakes looks between my horse and Anna's Pearl but I really like my fellow, he's a big, strong colt and whatever beats him will win. He's my charity bet." Rail Out on Bend but no Details given = Extra Distance. Change in style for Burke stable in 2011 of more ready debuts and FTO wins continues in 2012. Hay Dude did more than just reeling in tired horses here. Only mistake a slow start but then always travelling comfortable. Smooth progress to Lead before 2F out and HD's cruising speed above that of Bahamamay & Scepticism before that pair faded notably in the last 1f. Strong finish by HD and Burke's still show ability to 'source' solid 2yo prospects although this one retined by the owner at the sales. |
