Strong WSW Wind = Slight Headwind from Left in Home Straight. George Cinq pictured on Bell's website news for the previous day working with Kimberella who ran in the Novice at LEIC on the same day. GC going as well as Kimberella and quote saying Kimberella in "fantastic form". That horse beaten and given too much to do by Spencer trying to quicken on soft ground and floundering about, the horse as well as Spencer. Quotes more circumspect about GC saying he was in good foorm, had improved a lot from his debut, should run a good race here, etc. Not a lot happening despite the large field. Jockey Hughes trying to control the race by getting to the lead from a wide draw then slowing the pace down notably on the bend. Al Zein not good enough despite that. Ormindo had perfect run through race apart from one niggle and showed what he has. Secret Art bigger and had come from wider draw than AZ to join him to the bend and prouce a better effort. The one niggle for Ormindo was that he was running the far rail int he straight which is perhaps not the liveliest part of the track since the summer surface maintenance. George Cinq probably just the best horse but did things wrong like running wide ont he bend and pulling. But, running wide perhaps not an issue here at present because it dumps you wide in the straight and GC 'took off' in Centre Track on the CS inside 2F to get to the lead smartly then starting hanging right to join the other two placed horses. |
