GS from G after 6mm of rain overnight. Medium Northerly Wind = Quarter Headwind from the Left. Rhagori Aur a typical FTO winner for trainer Smart in late May in some ways. The 14/1 win means he will turn in another profit following all Mar-May debuts after a quiet couple of years. Which brings the total to six profitable years in the last 10 on that stat and a good profit overall. 2011 a different year for the stable with an illness problem with his string meaning his 2yos started winning later int he year. He showed profits following ALL debuts in both Jun-Aug and Sep-Nov in 2011 which is entirely untypical. RA also a typical physical type being a taller, slightly narrow one by Exced And Excel but physically precocious and a good rangy mover, esprecially in front. That type tend not to progress much after mid season but a comfortable win by RA here and finishing the race off strongly despite running too freely. Can compete strongly at Conditions level and OR83+. RA untypical in another way in that she was declared for a race on April 4th but an NR because of a Brusised Foot. So, she was ready to go a long time ago and has had that much longer to get ready for debut. [Worth checking at some point on the W-R ROI for horses who make delayed debuts. Does the delay produce readier, fitter horses and better returns?] Slow Time and some greenness means hard to judge the rest with none of them finishing the race off or showing anything different. Smallbrook Lane did a lot wrong so has some excuses so is a better than the literal form reading suggest. |
