SUMMARY

G as it had been for the previous two days of the meeting. Going Stick reading from 10:00am as 7.7 Stands, 7.8 Centre & 7.6 Far Side.

Far Side course in use.

Stiff WNW Wind = Close to Direct Tailwind.

Field raced Far Side. Fast conditions with the Tailwind and a fast time off a usable pace. Faster time helped by Fallon on Steeler taking the lead 3F out and upping the pace before the final efforts. Racing prominently a positive in both 2yo Group races and difficult to make ground against horses with a comfortable head start. Birdman usually held well back for a deep closing run and hads been overdone by Spencer in some previous races. Ridden by lane here and Birdman sweaty and pulling so ended up in lead and fading late off that. Some 'Happy Medium' to be found to get the best from him.

First two had advantage of prominent position and starting efforts early but still produced the best efforts at 2F out with that factored in. Artigiano going better than Steeler 1F out to lead but not seeing the 8F out fully and Steeler going on at the finish.
