Ground Chaged to Heavy before this Race 2. Soft as it had been two days prior. 3.5mm of rain Monday. Going Stick reading from 06:30am. Medium to Stiff ENE Wind = Direct Tailwind on Ridge, Half Tailwind from Left Home Straight. Slower time than previous maiden but appeared a stronger early pace on easing ground. Field not finishing race off. Majority of field in leading line after 1F in a wide spread from rail to Centre track. Pressure continued and resolved down to a leading three by halfway. Field crossed to Stands' Side inside 3F out as in previous race and leader on rail inside 2F out - Mowhoob agian appearing to plug on best and the likely winner. But, Mowhoob stalling and fading around 0.5F out but mostly not a problem with rest of field already fading and rolling away from the rail downhill. One exception being Santo Prince who was 2R ont he rail by 2F out and had sat off the pace at halfway. Able to plug on enough to pass the fading leader in the last 0.5F. |
