SUMMARY

Soft as it had been two days prior. Going Stick reading from 11:45am. Course notes say the 'Back Straight' has had Drainage work during the last two months. 'Sand Slits' across whole track and the Entire course Vertidrained on 19-22 Sept.

Medium Northerly Wind = Slight Tailwind from Left in Home Straight, more a Tailwind Before.

8 of 9 runners taken across to race on Stands Rail strip by Surge Ahead and took an very direct line across, not working over. That group had 2F+ sprint and a half of the 8 fading by last 0.5f and other four together in wide line plugging on. But, Empiricist in Midfield on the rail settled around the home turn and stayed on the Far Rail. Already worked up to second when Surge Ahead 'veered' over to Stands Side just before 3F out. Effectively left in lead before 2.5F out and given some free lengths but a solid finish from him anyway.
