HVS by race time. SHV from S two days prior. Drizzling on day and course reported 3mm of rain from 05:00am to 10:00am with drizzle due to continue to noon. Medium NNE Wind = Crosswind from left in Home Straight, Half Tailwind from Left Uphill Section. Slower time than the earlier maiden run 1.5 hours earlier. Rain continued during intervening time. Pace also slower here with majority of field held and vaguely fighting it for 1.5F until Esteaming found himself in lead and field climbing over each other for much of mid-race uphill section because of slow pace. Field also came wider in the straight than in the maiden with first two home racing centre track. Despite the pace and quality of horses still a 'walking' contest in the last 1F and a very slow time. |
