Going Stick = Noon. Strong Easterly Wind = Direct Tailwind Faster time normally run by better horses in the Molecomb Stakes. Presumably the Tailwind along with the drying ground and no watering after a wet spell producing fast conditions. Next race a 3yo handicap won by an OR70 rater carrying 7lbs more in 57.81s. No Video Replay Available- Until well in to June & only on RUK website. Looked a srong pace assisted by the Tailwind and hard for anything to make ground on the midfield runner 3.5L off the pace at halfway to make ground given the Tailwind and fast ground. Tommy's Secret got well behind early FTO on soft ground. Different conditions here and niggled along for most of first 3F+ and not appearing to handle the pace comfortably. Able to close up on the leaders as they faded off the pace. Seemed to be going strongest at the finish and perhaps won a little comfortably. Whistling Buddy a little green but went like the best 'speed' horse in the race. Attending the early pace comfortably and moving into the lead before 2F out just on his cruising speed. Able to make an effort and 2L clear but stalling towards the last 1F and fading before the last 0.5F to make the winner look better. Solid debut and first runner of season for trainer who starts with usable types alsthough the early runners can end up as placers. Fiducia held up early and some FFH with jockey. Unable to produce the pace to make a forward effort at 2F out and looking a bit leggy and upright in movement on the ground. Plugging on until a later fade. Fast 5F not obviously best for her. Smiling Shark drawn widest and green throughout so no chance to show what he could do. Hung right at the start and got behind and 6L+ off the lead at halfway in centre track. Always looking like he was surprised by the whole experience. Hung right into centre track when asked to make an effort 2F out. Some response towards 1F out and plugging on. Too green here so check STO. Emperor's Daughter probably setting too fast a pace for herself with the tailwinf but headed before 2F out and somewhat outpaced and an early fade. Beaten by limited fillies STO and seems limited even if she settles down and sees a race out fully. Con Leche smaller than SShark and less promise. Got behind early and in centre track away from the front 4 because the jockey tried to teach him to settle which he fought to some extent. Lost ground 2F out then an early fade after a minor response. Perhaps eased 1F out and the jockey either looking down or trying to adjust the saddle or some bit of tack. Check for WTRB. |
