SUMMARY
HV as it had been two days prior. 4mm of rain on Monday afternoon. Going Stick reading from 07:00am.

Medium Westerly Wind = Crosswind from Right.

Slow Pace and a 2F Sprint. Strong Conviction finally running a competent race after all the earlier 'Chaos' and proving better than his relative OR against three lesser physical types.

Channon website after the race = "STRONG CONVICTION finally put pay to a frustrating run when he took the class 5 Nursery at Yarmouth under Silvestre De Sousa this afternoon. The son of Piccolo had plenty of fans at the start of the season as he looked like a two year old to follow and he made a promising start, finishing runner up to Sir Prancelot at Bath on his second start. He didn't go on from there however, with Mick having few excuses to offer up when he failed to reproduce his form at home to the days on the track. Many of them just take a little time though and it's with optimism that Mick watched this afternoon's victory as he easily accounted for his three other rivals. 'It wasn't the greatest race in the world but he did it well enough and I just hope this is a springboard for better to come because he has ability this bugger. The owners Mark Barrett, Steve Dunleavy and George Materna have had to listen to me talking him up only to be disappointed all year and I'll be the first to admit that he's baffled me at times. He's a fine type and as sound as the day he came and although he's been busy, I've not been overly hard on him between his races so I'm hoping he'll go on from this.' "

The quote not suggesting that Channon is in the Bolger or Aiden O'Brien mould when trying to get inside the heads of his horses to try to 'Fix' them. He just keeps on running them and hope it comes right. Hard to see why the owner would need to be explained to what was going on when the problems on his earlier runs were so visible on track. They should have been asking Channon what plan and methods he was using to resolve the visible issues. Not listening to excuses.

The same website wrt to another Problem horse whom Channon just kept running. In the end it seemed gelding cured him of packing it in so he could take advantage of the overly low OR the endless duff runs had engineered. As with many Box 41 horses the job for Channon was to make the horse saleable at the autumn HiT and in this case Channon bought him for 16,000gns. = "As we said after his previous wins, Mick keeps on expressing little regret in buying OUZINKIE. 'He's such a good looking bugger, I can't blame myself for buying him even now.' So much so that Mick bought him again this morning at the Horses in Training sales. All this followed last night's hat-trick of victories courtesy of his length and a quarter success in the Class 6 Nursery at Kempton Park under Martin Harley. It was a combination of a horses blossoming confidence and a jockey's patience and judgement. Not that Harley had much choice as Ouzinkie stumbled out of the stalls from a very wide draw. The cutaway came as they straightened up for home in the six furlong contest though and he came home convincingly having been left last out of the gate. Mick was chuffed and sees this as a project in progress, hence the buy-back this morning from BOX 41. 'He's done nothing wrong since being gelded and these last three runs have saved the day as far as Box 41 are concerned because they've recouped sixteen grand on him and they wouldn't have got that a month ago. We knew he was OK though - he was just one of those frustrating types who showed so much early on but didn't blossom until the back end. I know he's hardly rocked the world - he's been in moderate nursery company, but he's certainly going the right way and it was a project I didn't want to miss out on. He's clean winded, a good mover and as sound as a pound so we'll see how much improvement there is as a three year old.' "
