SUMMARY

4.8mm of rain in 24 hours up to 08:30am. Going remained at G though as it had been 2 days before. Going Stick reading from 08:30am.

Weather finally broken from long cold spell with E/NE winds. Forecast Temp at 12DegC (prob first time since last Oct) and Mdm/Stiff Southerly Wind = Slight Headwind from Left, mostly a Crosswind.

Gay Kelleway interviewed before race in PRing & said LV had been at Chantilly for the previous week because aimed at racing at Longchamp this weekend. Ground too Soft there so redirected here. Said LV had worked well with a horse in France and with Quinlan's Weisse Girl. Kelleway typically bullish (quietly so by her standards) like her father & can get FTO wins with OR70s kit in lesser races. LV reportedly very fit for the day. But smaller mdm & not the taller type of sire.

More interest in MrDM as untypical of the small bulls the sire seems to get on early evidence. Ok size if still weak in Front & needing to dev. Ok power Bhd. Showed reaching mvmt in race as Peterkin wound pace at halfway and unable to match that pace given his stride cycle. But some scope & prob btr 6f+?

Baffling why DRover was favourite for whole period until ending joint fav late. What can that have been based on? Nothing more solid than €95k 1yo, Fallon & 'ran promisingly in the Brocklesby'. All a suspect story and especially yhte run in the Brocklesby. Finished well back & front of race not developing strongly at present.

SPLife MotS = "The 95,000euros purchase DONNY ROVER was not unfancied on his debut in the Brocklesby over track and trip but inexperience got the better of him. Having missed the break, he didn't get going until the race was over and much better is expected here with Kieren Fallon taking over the reins. Peterkin was tailed off last on his debut and can only improve on that while Mr Dandy Man makes most appeal of the newcomers. He's a half-brother to three winners and has a couple of early entries in valuable sales races later in the season."
