Stiff Southerly Wind = 3/4 Headwind from R in BS, unhelpful on Bend & 3/4 Tailwind from Left HS. Make the Prominent racer bias even more pronounced? E-mail to HOTH evening = Interesting race which I haven't got a full 'Answer' for at present. 5f races at the course usually favour the frontrunners so long as they do not go berserk. Tailwind in the Home Straight should aid that. Meritoc & Montaigne being first two thru halfway and fin 1st & 3rd ok in that view. VTime pulled too hard but probably trying to overhaul two colts as good or better than him. STLimit not really pick up & prob is a 6f Horse like trainer thought & again not superior anyway. DDuel smaller anyway and got hung out wide around the bend so faded. Rough Courte has been seller entered by Channon so just not good enough and fits with your view. She perhaps finished a bit close if the seller view is right. Which all hangs together as an ok 'Story' until you look at a little terrier like Fig Roll getting from a scrubbed along 6th at halfway to a closing to the line close 3rd? Time not that fast so I'm inclined to think the pace was too quick & the front 5 at halfway all fading by the line and that left FRoll as the only Closer because RCourte not good enough to get closer than onto the back of the fading pack by the line. MYMan's EDIN win looks over-rated & I have dongraded the Rating now so STLimit over-rated in Prf for this race. The 3rd from EDIN has won a weak seller & the fourth (Scargill) got blown up by Smuggler's Gold at LEIC and Channon has him in a seller at RDCR on Monday. I'd agree with your view about MYMan's wins and the LEIC race and this one better than the MYMan seam of 'form'. Hannon junior saying they 'like' Fig Roll as a fast early one and talked about the Lily Agnes. The Hannons' rarely have a runner in that race and NEVER send their best there. I'd think FRoll is some sort of 'Hairy Rocket' zippy ready one who's OR80s as a 2yo (lacking 3yo scope) and would get found out at Listed level. Mostly Content-Free quotes from Hannon wrt Fig Roll = "We have been careful with the two-year-olds because of the cold weather, but we have Fig Roll going in the opener. She is home-bred by Des Anderson and is out of his fast racemare Cake, who won first time out on the all-weather herself (at Lingfield) and also won the Listed St Hugh's Stakes at Newbury and finished third in the Cornwallis at Ascot. Fig Roll is by Bahamian Bounty so it is a speedy pedigree, and, though she is a filly taking on the colts, we hope that she will run well." Fahey on SLife = "Skye's The Limit would be one of my better chances of the day in the Betfred Mobile Sports/British Stallion Studs E.B.F.Maiden Stakes at Kempton. He ran a good solid race at Musselburgh first time out and will come on a bit for it. He showed more speed than we expected there, we thought he'd be on his head a little before staying on, but that wasn't the case. The horse that beat him, Mick's Yer Man, had previously landed the Brocklesby and looks a good early-season two-year-old. I think my fellow will run well here but it's a double bonus race meaning the winner could pick up nearly £20,000. I think it will prove to be a warm maiden and I'd be more worried about those that haven't run than those who have." MaJo Website 'News' = ""At Doncaster, Peterkin bids to show better this time in the maiden |
