GF as on decs. Watering but no details. GStick 15:30pm Stalls Stands' Rail. 19DegC. Medium to Stiff Westerly Wind = Close to Direct Headwind. Hannon Jockeys = Baby Bush (Dettori), Cay Dancer (Fortune), Djinni (O'NeillKT), Raajis (O'NeillD), Value (LeveySM). Hughes had gone to EPSM specifically to ride The Alamo by his own choice saying that horse had impressed him at SDWN FTO & thought he was a good chance to win. Rather than riding 4-5 races at NWBY & having to choose from 5 horses here. Channon Jockeys = Currently Inlondon (BishopC3), Heartstrings (Harley) & Reflected Love (Gannon). Stalls widespread but field raced Stands's Rail and tight Group & probably only 5 Lanes wide at half. Pace average or below and compressed field at Hf (hard to judge with the usual Single camera in Wales coverage as usual). Hints of a Rail Bias in this race and reports of other races showing the same. Cay Dancer Ldg on RL at Hf with Baby Bush behind her. Heartstrings in effective Lane 1 behind leader in that Lane with Value ahead of her. Value blow away by efforts at 2F out & 2f sprint. In context of possible Rail Bias good effort from Djinni who was drawn widest & got a slow start and a bit Inx early on. With slow pace got to Effective 2R on Outside. Djinni again a bit green to pick-up but prob did best of those racing wide in making ok progress. Poor effort by Reflected Love if a Rail Bias because lost ground early ins-2f as efforts went despite being 3R on rail (MHarpy having to Swc around her as Buick started playing around). Knloe the other one racing in Lane 1 and losing even more ground than RLove. Both need real excuse of too Inx to be of any interest. RLove racing HdR last 2f. Green Music also wide drawn and got to Leading Line on Wide outside and lost ground to Djinni after a reasonable effort then fading. Pink Mirage of some interest. In behind and then SwcL on 2 times to try to find a clear run and held up a couple of times. Check if she can show better. Lunar Spirit looked ok Sz & flashy mover but given an Inactive ride after a slow start wide. Seeemed to be racing a bit HdUpOv & this being Held or her galloping style? Racing wide and then Jk doing nothing to ask for 2F effort so worth cheching as FinPos here not reflect her potential. Stewards Enq into MHarpy = "The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of MENDACIOUS HARPY (IRE), ridden by William Buick, and trained by George Baker, which finished sixth, beaten 6 ¾ lengths. They interviewed the rider. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer. The rider stated that his instructions were to get the filly to run well, but not to knock her around. He added that MENDACIOUS HARPY (IRE) clipped heels soon after leaving the stalls and he was denied a clear run thereafter. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted his explanation." = Watched VT for 1st time later and wondered what the one who made a slow start then looked ready to make a strong finish on the stands rail where 1st 3 home ran but jockey sat up-0.5f+ instead. It was Buick on MHarpy. Good job by the stewards to haul him in. |
