GF as on Decs. GStick 10:30am as 7.7 StdsSd, 7-9 Cent, 7-6 FrSd. 6mm of watering after Fri meeting.

Fahey pre-race = "Dutch Courage is a filly we like a lot. She runs in the Nursery at Newmarket. We think she's very decent and she only has a handicap mark of 85 so we'll find whether I'm right - or the handicapper is - on Saturday. I think she's better than that mark and I hope she runs a huge race."

Stalls StdsSd and jogged down the Stands Rail. Al Baz in theory an easy lead but awash with sweat (esp where rubbed by breastgirth on frontal view). FFH for 1-2f and increased pace ins-3f and some effort but fading by-1f and tired uphill.

Race developed into a 2F sprint but with a faster 5th 1f as pace wound :-

Usual Caveats about undulating nature of NMKJ course & Ramp up to final plateau. Also about how 1f Sectionals are 'Relay' times of 1st horse through. This particularly important for Last 1f whereby Dutch Courage in 4th entering last 1f & ramp having lost 2L on MMist & 1L on TFTen in preceding 1.5F. Turned a 2L+ deficit into last 1F into a cmf 1L+ visual win at line and staying on. Suggests a solid test despite slower first 2f.
