G from GFG on decs No info about Watering nor Rain. GStick 09:30am as 7.9 Centre, 8.2 FrSd & 8.0 Stds. Stalls Centre 23DegC. Light SW Wind = 3/4 Headwind from Left Jks = DwyerM rides Crowley's Law & not Div Belle for his Father-in-Law. Kingscote not riding Dascomber filly (very unusual) & rides Mollases for Portman instead (has links to yard & rode stable's RAsct winner). Hughes rides Tea In Transvaal & Hanagan Raajis. Hitchcott rides Heartstrings & A5 on Gratzie. Charlton Website pre-race = "She will need to be very smart to win first time out against today’s field and expectations are not high.". When interviewed post race he said he thought she was the most promising of 3 x fillies by First Defence he had been sent this year. Hiking won by 6L FTO & Amber Isle a good 4th in a bigh field at NWBY FTO. Solid pace & jk on winner said they went an even pace. Field grouped in Centre track at Hf in close to a 4x4 Square with some tweaks, the Raajis & ?? IncrPc as pair off Front of Ldg Line. This pair hung over to Close to Far Rail by finish and stalling & fading last 0.5F and creating a block for those trying to closer nearer the rail, the most obvious BTR being Lovelocks. Gratzie running right on Far Rail for last 1F+ and got a clear run. Note that the GStick gave the Far Side as a notch or two quicker going. Winner & Second both got clear runs from Midfield on Wide Outside of clump next to Far Rail in last 1f. Gratzie 100/1 but check for Channon owned Debuts at Major Tracks. Might have had Adv of faster strip on Far Rail but the Work Gallop on Channon website pre-race shows Gratzie working with Kauilani (overlaps her at the finish in steady work) & Rough Courte (finished bhd Gratzie & looking more under pressure to stay with other pair) |
