Fahey pre-race = "Obviously I'd love to win the race that carries my name - the Read Richard Fahey on Sportinglife.com Maiden Stakes - but whether I've got the right horse in The Grumpy Gnome I'm not sure. To be honest I was a bit disappointed with his first run as I had thought he was quite a nice horse. Hopefully he was just more in need of it than I realised and he will bounce back." Hanagan rides having chosen to ride Mukhadram at York rather than Ektihaam at ASCT in the King George.

Stalls Centre but field gradually worked over to be Cent-Stds by Hf before the usual mass drifting left late on. Pensax Lad able to get an easy lead and prob barely 0 to Hf and going along settled with ears pricked checking out wat ahead. Attended by smaller (60s) Kickboxer who got outpaced when PLad & Hot Streak made efforts later in race. PLad hanging onto HS to -0.5f and not staying and drifting back to the pluggers.

TGGnome just medium but started MvAwk & HgL when asked for effort. Never faded but never balanced. DPerier outpaed and getting adrift by Hf. First two making efforts away from 60s kit & worse without an excuse. Some excuse for TGG so might get fixed.

Some Interest in FCommandment bec prob the tallest but with a SGwk & WkNk. A bit of a rounder galloper action. A bit head up & green when asked to make an effort & 1F of po and not stretching out before fading. Poss feeling ground but poss just never galloped fully before and still learning. Some int on plain size & prob on softer going.
