GStick 13:00pm. 6mm rain Tue, 0.5mm Wed, 4mm Fri, 1.6mm overnight. 8mm watering Thu. 20DegC. Stiff to Medium SW Wind. Half Tailwind from Left. Course Full Width. Shambolic nonsense on ATR before race. No sign of the LING race at all until a longshot with the field mostly loaded while ATR were fetishising over Irish racing from Galway as usual. Over the picture we still had the Irish Pundit Lite talking and Steve Miller as the ATR studio link had to shut him up. Miller then just had enough time to say "you can chuck everything drawn 1-5 out and have to look for something drawn high. The Botti newcomer has the best draw and there has been money for it...". Then the race started. Hopeless or Useless doesn't do justice to the towering incompetence, misplaced positive predictions added to the poor coverage of the British race. How about it's a Maiden race and half the field will get well strung out? How do you know which horses will go forward or hold up, etc? The Keeper of the 'Law Of Sod' is ever vigilant and ensured that Mazoona (Dw3) & Khee Society (Dw2) broke well, given their experience, and crossed straight over to the rail to lead. Mawzoona with the rail run then exceeded expectations but a smaller one and low level. KSoc seemed not to stay and was going backwards by-1f. Meanwhile the race was won by Never To Be from Stall 5 (whom the other pair had XF'd early) who raced widest on the track throughout. If you aren't going to cover the race properly then better if they just said nothing. Play 'Lift Music' instead it would be far more useful and not actively misleading. |
