GF from GS on Decs. GStick 09:00am 4mm of watering after racing on Fri Eve. 13mm rain on Mon. 20DegC. Medium Westerly Wind = Half Tailwind from Right. Bella Varenna does a solid Breeze Up on VT. Medium or bigger and solid build. SGwk Nk. Stretches out ok if a bit Inx. Ghinia notably smaller on her VT. Looks 60s. Slow Pace for first half of race with nothing wanting to lead. My Painter ending up leading because jk struggling to hold her. Tall & HdUp. The way she lasted out shows how slow pace was. Race slower than any of the 3 x 7f races the previous evening despite a notch faster Gng report (although s less of a Tailwind). Also 2.3s slower than the later Sweet Solera which wasn't a flat out race. Night Song & Wahgah didn't seem to do anything wrong to get well behind just a result of jockeys dropping them in and letting them get too far back. Pace wound ins-3f and a 2f-ish sprint. My Painter 1L+ clear until fading. Wahgah getting to within 1-2L of lead before fading. Bizarre ride by Buick on Night Song. Having let her drift last behind a slow pace he then switched left to race Far Side of group. (Field raced wide spread across centre line. Then as she got going ins-2f he went diagonally across an open gap between forwards fillies and those left behind to end up on the Stands Side of the group by-1f. Then a strong finish last -0.5f+ to lead late. Could have won more comfortably & poss looking V Good if kept nearer the pace initially and then allowed to make a single run directly to the line rather than going a tour of most of it's width. |
