GF from G on decs. GStick 07:30am. Rail Out by 16yds at 6f pole down to 9yds at the Finishing line. Bend to Str Out by 8yds = Adds 34yds to race distance. Which means this was close to an 8.5f race. 21DegC. Stiff to Medium Westerly Wind. Direct Tailwind in HS. Noted LTO that The Alamo did not seem to handle EPSM str and that would expect to hear he didn't handle the track. This snippet from Hannon website on day of this race = "and The Alamo, who will be happier on this track than he was at Epsom last time, ". Hannon won all 3 x 2yo races on Day and Hughes allowed an easy lead on the rail in ALL of them. In last 2 he upped the pace across the intersection around 3F out (here with The Alamo partly because he had to get hold of him as he was hinting at turning right and going around the loop again). This unusual pace upping then caught the other jks napping & gained a gap on the others, as if being on the prob best horse in each race and being allowed an easy lead wasn't enough of an advantage. While it's good work from Hughes you wish some of the other jks would try something, anything, rather than just letting themselves get shafted. |
