G as on decs. Rain as 7mm Thu, 1mm Fri, 1.5mm Sat & 1.5mm Sun. GStick 12:30pm. Rail out by 8m on bend = "adding approx 24yds to race distance". 16DegC. Stiff+ WNW Wind = Close to Direct Headwind HS, Direct Tailwind BS. Bell website pre-race = "On Monday we are sending Hala Hala on the long journey to Ayr. She is certainly better than her first run would suggest and we expect to see significant improvement here. She has been in good form in her work at home and should run a good race." Background to Vivere from MPR website = "This filly was catalogued to be sold at the Tattersalls Book 1, the feature yearling sale in Europe. Unfortunately for the breeder she got a case of gravel in her foot and was unable to be sold on the day of the sale. Yearlings literally have one opportunity to be sold and what is the breeder and the market’s loss is Middleham Park Racing’s gain. David O Meara and Middleham Park Racing were selected by the breeder as the best place for this well bred filly to be for its 2 and 3 year old career." Worth knowing because MPR would rank 2nd to Doyle/Hannon as sales purchasers but this one not 'chosen'. Slow Pace and very slow time although no extra distance. Pace increased before 2f out but a 2F sprint. Power Up seemed no excuse for fade. CDay ran fine and just enough distance & pressure for HHala to gain 1L+ on here ins-1f. Greenness did for Lovelocks with a slow start meaning she had little chance after 0.5f gone given pace. Still green at times through race. Vivere had good spot then lost it as sprint started but seemed to get going again in centre track late on & would presume 8f NTO. |
