GF from G on decs. 2mm rain Sun, 1mm Mon. GStick 06:30am. Rails fully in. 17DegC. Medium+ Westerly Wind = X-Wind from Right HS, helpful before. Previous 2yo race featured a blitzing front runner who spread the field out after a short lull at start of race. FRunner able to hang on a long time in that race and similar here. De Repente seems an obligate FR and took off here and had field well spread out. Put enough pressure on field so that weaker ones (BR & JT) fading early so no chal. Soul Instinct hanging left to Cent in Str and not really picking up before fade. Looked as if moving awk on NF which is a painful looking twister. PMyla following pace reasonably cmf in midfield but unable to mount any fwd move before stalling. Which only left two candidates to overhaul DRepente as she faded in the last 0.5f having hung over to far rail. Pull The Plug close to pace at hf but travelling just well enough to eventually overhaul DE-0.5f and then po. Odd ride from Rosie J. on Threetimesalady. Slow break and then did nothing and allowed the horse to drift back. 9L back at Hf and mild niggling. Not a disaster given the pace set but then took TTALady out widest in centre track to make effort. Up to 3rd ins-1f but still 2-3L down on LdgPr and just po from there. Interesting to see what TTAL would have done with a swift break and sitting around 5-6L off lead in midfield. |
