GF as on Decs. Area missed all rain in preceding 10 days. Watering as 6mm over Mon-Tue period, 6mm across Wed-Thu period. GStick Never Updated from Thu Figure Far Rail Out by up to 16ft for the whole straight. 21DegC. Medium+ WNW Wind = Close to Direct Headwind HS. Baffled by the Market here. Why wasn't Cool Bahamian always 2nd Fav? In early prices he was the outsider of 5 when Snow Trouble still a runner. He had the 2nd highest OR and second best in at the weights. None of the other 3 preferred (aside from Washaar) had shown anything in maidens and nurseries to suggest a big leap forward was coming. Market seems to use some very rough 'Heuristics' at times. The idea that it is fine tuned by lots of big brains using Big Data is just plain wrong [X-Ref to Paddy Power piece which was quoted by Rowlands as if it was an example of the 'Data firepower' that Bookies had over the rest of us]. Having read it before it didn't make them 'Very Sharp' & just made their 'Rough Heuristics' output a bit less rough than normal. And anyway, they aren't 'Betting' against the average punter..... they set Prices in reaction to the money coming from other punters. If a lot of them are 'Fish' and stuff money onto Poor Prospects the Prices they set for others will be value. Another example of how the mindless, and endless, building up of Betting as if it was adversarial vs Bookies and Betting Rings are 'Jungles' by the Racing Channels & Pundits screws up peoples' ability to think straight. |
