SUMMARY

G from GF by 09:40am with 7mm rain & still raining. GF as on decs at 06:25am Report. But 3mm of rain by that point & 12mm by late afternoon. GStick 12:15pm.

How did Alan Berry end up owning Truancy? Having overseen an extended Downward Spiral of the yards over the last 12-13 years (can't pin all of that on Hillside Girl), he has few runners now and most cheap buys. 'Tom Malone' signed for Truancy at the B-up Sale. VT of Breeze shows a leggy one with a Gawky Nk & Hd. Bit green in Breeze and another that holds neck up-and-out & HdUp. Shows a KA and no CoPc & just gets into a reasonable gallop for the last 1f.

Spencer interview before race said Dream And Search had been run back STO over 7f to try to get him ready for the Chesham Stakes. Got Sore Shins after that race so plan didn't work out and D&S been built up back to this return at 3TO after brk. Ran in the YORK May mdn that Hills stable has traditionally started an OR90+ one in.

Weak efforts from RP & DAS off long breaks. RP never in race. DAS settled 2R but didn't pick up but never really fade just plod on somewhat thinkingly. Why would Truancy be at such a short price? Useless trainer who hasn't had a FTO win since 2004. Last 8 years of debuts mostly rancid. Truancy took off running too freely for the always poorly balanced Winston to hold. Ran himself out before Hf. No wonder Jack Berry disappeared and threw himself 100% into Charity Work rather than be anywhere near this Decade long 'Train Wreck'.
