Going changed to GS after this race after morning rain but no amount given. Racecourse forecasting odd light showers in am and 1-2mm which was clearly well out. Early GStick reading rendered meaningless. G from GGF on Decs. 10.4mm rain Fri. 1mm Sat. 4mm Mon. Course has been Verti Drained since last meeting. GStick 08:30am. Stalls Stands' Side. 13DegC. Light to Medium NW Wind = 1/4 Headwind from Right HS. Field crossed to Centre track early. Nothing wanting to Lead and Widespread field+1f. As often seems the case the MaJo runner ended up leading but the 'point' of that, according to MaJo, is to get them running settled and efficiently rather than stop-start and blocked & hampered in bhd. Since re-accelerating a 500k block takes far more energy than maintaining it's momentum. But, Emaad racing too free and Hanagan (not a regular jk of choice by MaJo) in a fight with the horse rather than letting it roll. Given slower pace odd mix of Hfs vs FinPos. Seems a mix of reasons with the pace increasing by ins-3 part of the reason but no full efforts until around-2f. 2 of Ldg 3 at Hf pulling too hard so faded erl. Donny Rover & Latenightrequest a bit outclassed in the 'sprint'. Fair Ranger & Street Force not travelling smoothly Ov and no later race effort. Which really leaves how the 3rd to 5th home got overhauled by the first two as THE question. Done in different ways with Braidley always TvBest. Jk used the -3f to -2f as a Creep Zone because hrs tv so well and close to Ld by-2f so his effort took him clear as others just starting theirs. Master Carpenter really just plugging on through fdrs to get a Vol 2nd Lt. |
