SUMMARY
S as on Decs. 2nn of Rain Overnight. GStick 09:30am

Rails Report says = "3m of fresh ground on the bend turning into the home straight and the home straight". Which is worrying because they don't say the races on the day are any Shorter than usual. CATT have never reported any changes to Race Distance this season which means they are shifting rails without any info about Distance changes.

15DegC. Light to Medium SSE Wind = 3/4 Tailwind from Left HS.

Fahey pre-race = "Kalahari Kingdom has been disappointing. We really like him at home but haven't seen that promise on the racetrack yet. He drops in grade for the totequadpot Median Auction Maiden Stakes and he needs to learn to settle. I'd like to see more from him here.".

Peculiar set-up along the BS and into the Bend given just 9 runners. 5 of them racing in a Leading Line into the Bend with Gilbey's Mate in 6th but actually well placed in 2R on the rail just 1.5L behind Lendal bridge leading on rail. Only major change in that Lo5 to FinPos was Bint Mayana fading back worst having been hustled along and 3Wd into Bend. Lendal Bridge doing best of that Lo5 having had the rail run.

Lo5 overhauled by Gilbey's Mate as would be expected if he got a gap. Stream Of Light losing ground in BS and Vosne Romanee never really going or settled so always struggling to keep up then off the back. What happened with Giant Samural. Alongside GMate going to the bend but then Dv and lost 1L+ and the ground already looking chewed up despite the song-and-dance about "fresh ground".

Gilbey's Mate able to pick his gap because Lo5 broke up a bit on Bend then field went across to Stands Sd. GM making an effort to go Between LBridge and outpaced Namely to get to Lead and StdsRL-2f. LBridge able to get to clear 2nd with eff to str. Ronya shuffled back on bend then SOutpaced before po. KKingdom Dv on Bend and losing 2L. Then raced alone on Cent-Stds strip and laboured again. Giant Samurai lost 4-5L on Bend and SHgL and not looking Cmf. But also SHdUp and then NoResp in HS so could be a mixture of not handling going (loose ground) and a physical issue. Would have been expected for somebody to ask the question of the well back 2nd favs connections.
