SUMMARY
4mm of rain between 10am to noon, still raining, changed Going to GS. GStick never reported on Day. G from GF on decs. Not details of rainfall given. Medium to Stiff 3/4 Wind = Direct Tailwind.

Fahey SL piece pre-race = "Vimy Ridge is quite nice but runs in what looks a warm little race for the Two Year Old Trophy at Beverley. He needs to step up on his win at Musselburgh the last day but that probably wasn’t a bad race.".

Pace too strong? Field spread over around 8L after 1.5f and the 2nd/3rd home in 6th/7th together at the back of the spread and looking to be unable to follow the pace rather being held up by canny jks. SW & VR then staying on past the faders 1-5f+ with SW overhauled by the smaller VR plugging on better. Time looks solid compared to the earlier (sub 70) quality maiden and the older horse Class 6 handicap run at 3:05pm (OR71 6yo mare won in 63.9s car 9st 6lbs).

Inclined to mark up Midterm Break's performance up given he broke the pair he raced with in a clear pressing Lo3 and still managed to find an effort of that to still be 2L clear of the Deep Closers at the line although they had made 5L+ on him from halfway. MB not fading at the line and still looking alert and listening to the jk for instructions. MB also had to make an effort to get from Centre draw to be 3Wd in the leading line after 1f and finall XF 1 wide to join NLad after 2f. Having cut Denzille Lane (sweating neack AP) up just before as that one struggling to keep up the pace. Northgate Lad probably running more freely than MB along the rail but a little smaller and more compact. Appeals more as a faster 5f type and perhpas around 80. MBreak seems to have some length and natural speed with fluent movement, along with complete professionalism, which lift him above his lower 80s appearance. Firgrove Bridge in 4th at Hf but 3-4L back and driven along from early on. Another smaller one in context paying for that effort to find the Deep Closers of his type able to overhaul him. Hard to believe Vimy Ridge & Sea Wolf ran to the ratings they did the way they did. VR a smaller one and not that clean a mover. Complete trier but does not convince as one to follow and already achieved more than debut picture suggested. How would he have fared if this had been a blast on GF run around 61 seconds without a tailwind?

Jersey Bull looking like the smaller 60s one he is and struggling to go the pace at any stage and broken by being ask to chase the pace rather than just get home in his one most efficient way. Puts his £10k Bonus race win into better context.
